What the test is for
The FSH Menopause Test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the semi-qualitative detection of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) in urine to aid in the detection of menopause. It is intended to be used by healthcare professionals and over the counter use.
Test principle
The FSH Menopause Test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay. The strip components consist of a magenta red conjugate pad containing monoclonal anti-Beta FSH antibody with colloidal gold, and a nitrocellulose membrane strip containing a test band (T) precoated with monoclonal anti-alpha FSH antibody and a control band (C) precoated with Goat anti-mouse IgG antibody. When an adequate volume of test specimen is dispensed into the sample well of the cassette, the specimen migrates by capillary action across the cassette. FSH antigen, if present in the specimen, will bind to the FSH gold conjugate. The immunocomplex is then captured on the membrane by the precoated FSH antibody forming a colored T band indicating a positive test result. Absence of the test region suggests a negative result. Absence of a colored band in the control region suggests an invalid result and the specimen must be retested with another device.
