What the test is for
Typhoid (IgG+IgM) Antibody Test Kit is an in-vitro diagnostic rapid test based on the principle of immunochromatography on a membrane, for the qualitative detection of IgM and IgG antibodies against specific Salmonella typhi (S. typhi) antigen outer membrane protein (OMP) in human whole blood, serum or plasma specimens.
Test principle
The Typhoid (IgG+IgM) Antibody Test is a qualitative one-step immuno-chromatographic assay. The strip components consist of a magenta-coloured conjugate pad containing Typhoid antigen with colloidal gold, and a nitrocellulose membrane strip containing two test lines — IgM (T1) and IgG (T2) — and a control line (C). The T1 band is pre-coated with monoclonal Anti-Human IgM and the T2 band with monoclonal Anti-Human IgG; the C band is pre-coated with control line antibody. When an adequate volume of specimen or sample extraction buffer is dispensed into the sample well, it migrates by capillary action across the cassette. Anti-S. typhi IgM, if present, binds at the T1 line and anti-S. typhi IgG at the T2 line, forming magenta coloured bands that indicate a positive result. Absence of a coloured band in the test region indicates a non-reactive result. The control region must always develop a coloured line; otherwise the result is invalid and the specimen must be retested with another device.
